Review : Automata 2014

The beginning of the film is very exciting, at the early stage there is showing a photograph where the robot is developed by humans, the awards ceremony, mass robot produced, until finally robot is rejected by a human, and there was a big war.

The background of this movie is in a city that survived after the war. The condition is very dirty and rundown.

There are two protocols for the robot, which is the first one should not injure living beings, the second one is not allowed to modify /altered themselves.

Someday a policeman find out a robot that altered themselves that’s breaking the second protocol, then the robot is shot by the police officers.

Jacq Vaucan (Antonio Banderas) an insurance agent of ROC robotics corporation, investigates the case of manipulating a robot to discover who’s behind this operation, until something not predicted is happening.

This movie is not like i-robot that’s have a lot of action and gun shot. This movie is more to the dialogue and the investigation of the altered robot. The scenery is very good, showing the destroyed city and the big desert. But the story is a bit plain but I like how the progress of the story.

  • Story - 6/10
  • Acting - 6.5/10
  • Visual Effect - 8/10
  • Direction - 6.7/10

Not too much action, is more in investigation and detective style movie.
