Review : Godzilla (2014)

Godzilla, king of the monsters is a Japanese original franchise. The Godzilla itself previously has been made in 1998 but the concept is totally different from the original story where Godzilla should fight against a strong monster too, but it just look like Jurassic Park, where people want to survive from this huge giant monster.

The film starts from some footage that illustrates how and where Godzilla first appeared in the 1950. Then, in year 1999 in the Philippines, when the devastating earthquake uncover about the persistence of a blue alien on the planet, and the incident led to the events at the same time which occurred 15 years later. The enemy in this movie is M.U.T.O. a monster that comes from radiation and radioactive materials, such as bat wings and fly.

In terms of story, frankly a bit boring in the beginning, a lot of boring dialogue and the role of Ford Brody was not too good, something missing in there. But in terms of visual effects, Godzilla is Superb. Visualized destruction of the city is very detailed, especially when Gozilla spurts a blue lava to the enemy. The battle is very interesting in my opinion, but in the last fight the scene is too dark. I almost could not see clearly the fight for the both monster.

At least, this new Godzilla is according to the Japanese franchise, monster vs monster. It’s totally cool! but in a story and act it’s just average. I hope the next Godzilla will be better.

  • Story - 7.3/10
  • Acting - 6.5/10
  • Visual Effect - 9/10

Overall, Godzilla is worth to watch. It's 100 times better than the first version. I don't mind seeing the next Godzilla fight with a lot of monster.
